The Royal Spa Lodge enjoys a convenient position on the western slopes of the Malvern Hills between West Malvern and Upper Colwall. Its early history is linked to Malvern's first concert hall (effectively the town's first theatre) which saw many performances by famous Victorian artistes, notably the opera singer Jenny Lind who had particularly strong links to the area. Indeed there is still an original stage doorway from the courtyard of Royal Spa Lodge in existence. This was the direct link to the hall itself. From the agent's office in Great Malvern proceed south along the A449, Wells Road towards Ledbury. After a few hundred yards take the first fork to the right (signed to Colwall and the Wyche Cutting) along the B4218 Wyche Road. Continue along this route uphill for about three quarters of a mile to the Wyche Cutting where you enter Herefordshire. Almost immediately turn right into West Malvern Road.
